Throughout its evolution, the set traditionally had the same set-up, but with a working TV, the quilt hung above it, the table now parallel to the presenters, and newspaper covered wooden boards behind the sofas. The lighting was also changed to create a brighter friendlier feel to the show. On rare occasions, guests sit on the separate armchairs.

In recent episodes, the TV has been on the right hand side of the set, offering more width to the layout. It also allows for presenters and guests to sit with graphics next to them.

Tea Time Chat has been a strong outlet at YSTV for promoting the show and station through social media. Episode Five was advertised through Facebook Live as Joel did a tour (with [[Emily Friend]] on camera phone) around the studio, interviewing the key people who were going to make the show happen. This grew up to over 800 views very quickly. A similar trend happened for the Volunteering Special when a teaser video, filmed on the bridge by Central Hall, hit about 800 views in less than 24 hours. The show itself was also successfully broadcast via Facebook, although the live view-count was likely to have been quite low. Joel later gave permission to release a blooper's reel which was also a considerable success on Facebook.

It wouldn't be YSTV production without a few mistakes. Tea Time Chat has often found live sound streaming to break, with synchronising the live stream, nervous random pressings of vision mixing buttons, autocue issues, wrong VTs and random music at the end of a blooper reel (Ep.7, since been edited out) being a forgivable mistake at one point or another.

Tea Time Chat (a.k.a Tea Time Chats) is a half-hour weekly magazine show. It was created by Kate Whitaker and Joel Mitchell. Featuring different presenters, producers and segments, it is a prime platform for new members to learn different skills. The first episode was broadcast in January 2017. The show generally is a good starting point for new members to try different roles, start on Producing and it works well for Give It A Gos too.

After taking a longer break for most of the 2017/18 academic year, TTC returned in autumn term 2018 with weekly episodes. For this "season", Hayley Louise Clark was chosen as the executive producer, and was the first production most freshers worked on that year.

Set

It began with two sofas at a right angle to each other. The TV, which wasn't initially used, was in the middle and a small table was angled parallel to it, with a tea set on top. The black studio walls surrounded this and a quilt covered the presenters' sofa.

Upcoming Episodes

As of October 2018, there are two Monday night episodes each produced by 4 new members.

Social Media

Tea Time Chat has been a strong outlet at YSTV for promoting the show and station through social media. Episode Five was advertised through Facebook Live as Joel did a tour (with Emily Friend on camera phone) around the studio, interviewing the key people who were going to make the show happen.

For Episode 9, Sam and Tom went out and about with Dan and Courtney experimenting with different video transitions with the advert theme of being lost. The presenters were trying to find their way to the show in order to present.

Mistakes

It wouldn't be YSTV production without a few mistakes. Tea Time Chat has often found live sound streaming to break, with synchronising the live stream, nervous random pressings of vision mixing buttons, autocue issues, wrong VTs and random music at the end of a blooper reel (Ep.7, since been edited out) being a forgivable mistake at one point or another.

A distinct lack of sound for some episodes.

Joel Mitchell

The show featured a discussion of current affairs with Nouse's Anna Coughlan. She was asked to recite a constitution stating her recommendation of Tea Time Chat, a feature that accidently, didn't last, even to the next interview! Joel then did a tour around the studio and gallery with floor manager and camera op Sam Hance. In a humorous discussion in the gallery, we discovered the sound on the live stream hadn't been working properly. AJ Hartley was interviewed by Kate to discuss the York Hornets, along with a VT.

The show opened with Joel introducing the show's content and presenters with a green-screened picnic blanket background. After a VT filmed on drones, there was an interview with Drone Soc. This included a demonstration of flying it within the studio. John Chisham's Sessions set was then used as the show's musical act. This was followed by a VT featuring Katherine Bell doing vox-pop interviews students about current affairs. Joseph Silke from Nouse then spoke about current affairs with Josh and Andy.

The show began with an interview with YUSU President Millie Beach about the referendum on boycotting the National Student Survey. This was followed by a VT with Josh doing vox-pop interviews with students on their thought on the survey. Members from Nouse and Vision came in to discuss current affairs. This was followed by a VT featuring JuggleSoc interviewed by Sam Willcocks. Millie Beach then joined Joel and Josh again to discuss about the upcoming YUSU Elections and her job as President. The show closed with a Sessions set from Henry Fairnington.

The show began with regular current affairs chat this time with John and Callum (from the not yet established 'Politics Show Panel'). Joel and Grace then had a chat about he upcoming YUSU Election's coverage on YSTV. Joel then presented a VT interviewing and doing a pop-song based challenge with YUSU's Millie Beach and Dom Smithies. Joel and Grace then had a chat about Valentine's Day and their amusing stories. Grace then presented a VT taking a look around the Vintage Fair in James College. Back in the studio, Joel had been dressed up in a mask, apron and a scarf by the hat-wearing Grace. They proceeded to read out poor pick-up lines too. Kel Chamber's Sessions set then closed the show.

This was Hui-Ling's first show as a presenter on YSTV.

Like all good long-running TV shows, Tea Time Chat had a best-of highlights reel to demonstrate what the show had achieved upon the end of term. Hui-Ling and Grace spoke about their favourite moments, with VT clips being played.

Planned as a Volunteering Special from the last week of Spring Term, it was broadcast on the first Friday of Summer Term, making it what is probably the earliest planned Tea Time Chat thus far.

It featured an interview with Alice Driver one of the new YUSU Volunteering Officers, who spoke about projects at York and here ideas for the upcoming year. There was a VT, filmed on the previous Tuesday, about Nightsafe who were operated outside Kuda. Joel did an interview with three of their volunteers which was posted on their social media pages too. KEEN were interviewed by Joel and Raquel and they spoke about the project and getting involved. Joel and Raquel also spoke about their volunteering experiences, along with photos. With Roses ever-closer, the new trailer was shown along with a reminder of YSTV's upcoming coverage. The show was meant to end with a blooper reel from the show's trailer footage, but during the live stream an interesting guitar number was overlayed...
