David Roberts was Station Director from June 1989 until he resigned in 1990, leaving the University to become a singer/songwriter.

According to a YSTV/NaSTA newsletter from 1990, David's first act as Station Director was to buy an edit suite that YSTV had been saving for, which made editing easier and programmes slicker. He also produced the daily magazine programme 002, which was broadcast every day throughout the summer term (a feat believed to have unmatched since!) He negotiated a "modest budget" for YSTV at a time when the Student Union was hostile to the station.
