Election 97 had a space theme. The title sequence depicted the YSTV control room as the bridge of a spaceship preparing for launch, and a nifty shot of a shuttle over Goodricke. A number of clips (and the soundtrack) in this sequence were lifted from the 1995 film Apollo 13.
The opening was marred by sound problems, and was attempted around half a dozen times.
