A number of YSTV members past and present went to The Nag's Head followed by Toffs (also the first ever smoke-free night at the club). Big Gay Sunday was a regular YSTV social, mainly during the academic year 2004-5.
It began as a joke, when YSTV members visited Toffs nightclub's Sunday gay night in November 2004. Despite the name it was perhaps the least gay "gay night" in the world due to York's not exactly cosmopolitan make-up. Although not a student night, it was quite cheap in order to get the punters in on a Sunday night.
A good time was had by all - especially YSTV's token gay Rowan de Pomerai who came up with the name for the social. As a result the social started to happen regularly (the second and third visits were subtitled "The Re-Entry" and "The Threesome"). There were also spin-offs in the form of Little Gay Sunday and Big Gay Birthday. Most socials would begin in the Nag's Head next door, taking advantage of their triples-for-singles offer.
