The brainchild of Liv Woodward and Meg Maguire, Fit For Another World - The Legacy of Anne Lister (colloquially known at the 'Anne Lister Doc' within YSTV), is a YSTV documentary centred on the history of Anne Lister and the legacy she has in the 21st Century. It was initially intended for its release to coincide with the opening of the new Anne Lister College at the University of York in 2021. However, this target was later adjusted so that filming of the opening of the college could be included in the documentary.

Anne Lister Doc in the Production Meeting powerpoint

At a YSTV production meeting on 2 March 2021, Liv Woodward and Meg Maguire pitched a YSTV report on the opening of the new Anne Lister College at the university. The idea was to do an initial report on the fact it was happening to build up to the fact it was happening, likely followed by another report when it actually did open.

By the following week the idea had grown into a pitch for full blown documentary, which they were currently in the research process for, with plans to begin shooting at the start of Summer Term of 2021.

By 16 March, the producers had made contact with DIVA Magazine, who were keen to have an involvement with the project.

Over the Easter Holidays the producers continued to reach out to contacts and secure interviews with a number of contributors.

By 18 May plans were set in stone for filming to begin. They had editors secured to work on the project once filming was done and Gwenllian Davies was attached to present.

A few days prior to production beginning, Production Director Alize Akturk assigned Joe Radford as camera op and general technical assistant for the first day of shooting. Little did they know what they were getting themself in for.
