Helen Rix, famed for her very red hair and resemblance to a pixie, was active in YSTV throughout her three year degree - after all, as an English Language and Linguistics student, she didn't exactly have many lectures.

By her second year (1997) she had hung round the station for long enough to be elected Production Director, and was re-elected in her third year (1998).

After leaving University she worked in websites and marketing, most notably for Usborne Publishers, before taking up her present role as Deputy Web Editor for the Highways Agency.

Helen now works part time as she is also a professional belly dancer, performing and teaching across the North East under the name Helena - http://www.helenabellydancer.com

She has danced at a wide range of events for customers including Girl Guiding UK and Bettys and Taylors and recently came full circle when she found herself teaching belly dance in one of her old lecture theatres at Langwith College, York University...
