More technical information on the G/046 lighting rig can be found on the YSTV Docswiki

General about the rig

  • OK, in 04/11/2009, the rig can be considered mainly old.
  • With a few bits of quite nice new(ish) stuff
  • It's analogue. We know.

Power

The rig east a lot of juice: It is fed from two 32amp Ceeform plugs on the wall (same wall as fire escape). Note this is not three phase! YSTV has managed to trip these on occasion!

Dimmers

Pulsar status dimmers: (2 of)

  • 8-pin Din analogue signal in, 0-10v
  • With pre-heat (good for not shocking cold bulbs if they suddenly get turned on, this increases lamp life. YSTV hasn't used this facility though... until 04/11/2009).
  • 6 5amp channels each.
  • If they're buzzing, they're happy!

Desk

Zero88 Sirius24 The desk is a 24 channel model, that can be programmed with chases, steps, memories etc... It's quite obscure: controls aren't used in the order that would make them most intuitive, with a precarious mix of HTP and LTP channels. Because of this obscure programming method, not many people use it fully. The Zero88 outputs 0 to 10v through it's large D-Sub connectors located on the back panel. These D-sub connectors then go into an adapter, to change the pin arrangements ready for the dimmers.

Hardware

On the ceiling is a home-made steel pipe frame, with some IWB's here and there. These are fed by the outputs from the IEC patch panels which are above the dimmer rack.

Lights

Furse floods: (2 of)

  • Old fresnels.

Selecon Asymetric floods (unknown number of)Unverified or incomplete information

  • Actually not old!
  • Asymetric! not even spread of light.
  • Use to light back walls evenly, rather than a large "splodge" of light at the top, and not much at the bottom.
  • The above makes them very useful when doing Chroma_key work.

Gels

We have some. somewhere, on the odd bit of lantern... Does anyone else know more?Unverified or incomplete information
