Matthew started at York in 2002 when he made an immediate impact by wearing a suit all the time and volunteering to put a condom on (over a banana) at the YSTV-filmed Freshers Talks. He presented [[Bulletin]] the week after and then disappeared for a year.  Matthew re-joined YSTV in January 2004 and produced many, many, many episodes of his surreal "comedy" [[Solipsism]] along with Al Power and James Butterworth.  Soon after he became [[Secretary]], and in the summer became the penultimate regular producer of [[Bona Dicta]], introducing elements of his own brand of humour into the show.  He left York in Autumn 2005.

He was usually known as "MDP", as he would often refer to himself by his full name Matthew David Platts.

Matthew also gained rapid fame in the world of campus politics by printing his own newsheet, "Georgist Voice" and leaving it in public places all over campus. Given that it mostly consisted of interviews and quotes by him his name became extraordinarily well known in a short space of time.

Matthew is now working full-time as a Celebrity look-a-like. His uncanny resemblance with rug-munching warbler KD Lang has provided an invaluable income stream in what was essentially, a desolate wasteland that is an addiction to softcore Euro-porn and crack cocaine. His next appearance will be at Wakefield Asda where he will be performing freestyle bag packing and the sexual art of the Arabian Snorkel Mask.
