The coverage YSTV provides has varied a lot of the years in terms of format and style, simply because there are rarely any major sport enthusiasts in the active membership (and any that were there would probably have other more pressing things to do that weekend than help film proceedings).
Historically, the scale of YSTV's coverage has varied, with coverage being particularly limited when the event was held in Lancaster. More recently, both home and away Roses have become YSTV's largest event of the year by far, featuring a large number of simultaneous outside broadcasts, a studio and VT unit and extensive collaboration with other media groups.

Some of YSTV's oldest tapes cover Roses.  1981 and 1982's tournament was covered by Lancaster's student TV service (now long since defunct), and YSTV somehow came into the posession of two tapes of coverage.  Some of 1981's opening was re-used twenty years later for [[Roses 2001]] coverage.
