The York University Media Awards, or YUMAs, is the campus media's annual booze filled backslap-athon, first held in 2001. Nouse, URY, Vision, Cinematography Society and YSTV traditionally took it turns to arrange an awards evening, in which each society gave out their own awards rather than compete against other societies. In YSTV's case, this involved voting on old favourites, such as Best Show, Best Female and the like. Unlike other societies, YSTV members all have a vote on their categories (and indeed the categories chosen), rather than winners being chosen by a select group. In this respect the cermeony is a light-hearted way to end the year often including joke categories, unlike NaSTA.
2001

- Outstanding Production - SU Elections 2001 (beating Lazy Lunch and YSTV-am).
- Best Contribution to News and Current Affairs - Thea Darricotte (beating Kerry Beadling).
- Outstanding Achievement - Matt Hammond and Kevin Bowman for Election Night graphics system (beating Polarvision and Jenny Gordon).
- Best Newcomer - Adam Dymond (beating Chris Thornton).
- Lifetime Achievement - Matt Hammond (beating Peter Bowles and Michael Prior-Jones).
- YSTV also won in the inter-society catergory of "Most Glamorous Girls", with Nouse winning Tidiest Office, URY winning Best Quotes, Cinematography Society winning Best Blagging and Vision inevitably winning Most Controversial.
2002
Held at Merchant Adventurer's Hall. Photos can be seen on URY's [website].
- Best On-Screen Personality - Adam Dymond (beating Michael Prior-Jones, Rupert Clifford and Nick Oldham).
- Best Newcomer - Rob Humphrey (beating Giles Burdett).
- Devotion to YSTV - Kevin Bowman (beating Jenny Gordon and Michael Prior-Jones).
- Lifetime Achievement - Jenny Gordon (beating Thea Darricotte and Maurice the effects unit).
2003
Held at The Hilton near Clifford's Tower. After initial discussion in meetings YSTV pulled out after it was realised most of the active members would be immersed in final year exams and practical work the day after the ceremony, and the few who could attend would most probably be ridiculed for the minimal turnout and having to pick up most awards on behalf of others. Jonathan Bufton did however attend after being nominated for his URY show.
2004
Held at Next Generation Gym, with guest speaker former student and Daily Mail journalist Peter Hitchens. Photos are on YSTV's [website].
- Best Technical Innovation - YSTV Week graphics (beating Edit PC, Election Night graphics, Green Screen and tally lights).
- Best Presenter - Pete Nichols.
- Best Programme - Elections 2004.
- Best New Programme - Solipsism.
- Overall Contribution - Jonathan Bufton.
- Media Personality Of The Year - James Gallagher for his work at URY,YSTV and Nouse.
2005
Held again at Next Generation Gym. Has a page over at [URY] but as you'd expect is mainly centred around their people.
- Best Presenter - Kat Sutton (beating Pete Nichols, Sarah Richards, Kate Rushworth and Ben Tattersall-Smith).
- Best Behind-The-Scenes Contribution - Richard Ash.
- Best Newcomer - Lucy Watkins.
- Best Show - YSTV Week.
- Best Technical Innovation - ????
