Sam was stolen from a certain other media society around late spring term 2015, when he kind of just appeared at the installation of the new lighting rig. From there, he hovered in a non committal sort of way, before being elected Deputy Technical Director that Autumn, at the start of his year in industry. He spent that year pretending to know what was going on, and then was elected Technical Director in the 2016 AGM, in lieu of anyone else being around to do it, a position he held until the 2017 elections, towards the end of his final year of study. He was Webmaster for his last few months before becoming an alumni. He spent a few years working in broadcast engineering/software, and now does something largely unrelated.

He still wishes he'd got involved sooner.

Stuff He's Done
* Didn't win a 2016 NaSTA for Best Tech. Turned up unannounced on the Sunday and went to the pub anyway.
* Played Drive Crash 3, and apparently won(?!?)
* Server herding, sysadmin and the occasional rebuild (including setting up and commissioning Docs:Computing:Attenborough)
* Crewing most shows in some capacity, often technical but occasionally production-y and even once or twice presenting (sadly mostly during his "bad mustache phase" - don't talk to him about this)
* Was Transport Captain (ok, van driver..) and had a generally fun time at Roses 2016. Also wore budgie smugglers in line of duty.
* Had lots of members leave around him at the end of 2015-16.
* Helped run Freshers 2016 events. Ran around in circles for much of the week and tried to indoctrinate many many freshers. Some of them even stayed.
* Participated in the minor control room reshuffle of 2016 with Peter Eskdale, Robert Walker, and Mike Chislett.
* Attempted to teach people how to work the good ship YSTV, while still learning how to work it himself.
* In a long tradition of Tech Directors, neglected his degree.
* Loosely orchestrated the frantic 2017/FTO Debates 2017 double bill of a friday/saturday, which involved rigging at the Harrogate International Center (where they memes), getting politely kicked out at 1700, driving a van back to York, having an OB ready in Hendrix Hall in time for the FTO debates to start at 2000ish, largely successfully broadcasting said debates, packing down, getting some sleep, getting up at 0600, driving the van back to Harrogate and broadcasting brass bands for a day, packing down, going to McDonalds, and then driving the van home before faceplanting in bed.
** Loosely. Would've been nothing without all the (multiple) wonderful crews. Shoutout and apologies to everyone who did all 3 things alongside me...
* Didn't win another NaSTA for Best Tech in 2017, but at least went this time. Took bad photos all weekend and made poor attempts at humour in the AGM.
* Handed over the mantle of Tech Director to Tom Lee, persuaded Matthew Stratford to run as Computing Officer instead of him, and settled for Webmaster in the 2017 Election.
* Conceived and constructed several highly dubious pieces of woodwork: the "Fan-Shelf 5000" and the only marginally better planned Lee Mack the Tripod Rack.
* Received highly commended for the "Extra Mile" award at the Love York Awards 2017. Also ran Tech for the livestream, so legged it down from OB Control at the back of Central Hall to the stage, possibly slightly quicker than Dan Maher was expecting, resulting in some very shaky and very close up wireless camera footage as Dan tried to get out of the way...

* Conceived (with Sam Hance), and then failed to be free for the Wiki Party.
* Just about passed his degree!
* Received "YSTV's Favourite Biscuit" (an award, not an actual biscuit) at the 2017 FLOPPYs.
* Left University, and York in 2017 :(

{{Production Info
|broadcast=18th February 2017

UniBrass 2017 was YSTV's collaborative coverage alongside LA:1TV of the annual UniBrass University Brass Band Championship, hosted that year by University of York Brass Band. Although originally intended to be held on campus, due to work on Central Hall the competition was held in the Harrogate Convention Centre, known at the time as the Harrogate International Centre, which previously hosted Eurovision in the 1980s.

Production
The contest had two separate sections, taking place in two venues within the centre. YSTV covered the "UniBrass Shield" in the smaller of the two venues while LA1:TV covered the more prestigious "UniBrass Trophy" in the main auditorium.
Rigging largely took place on the preceding Friday 17th by a smaller team. The main show was done by a much larger team, with a switching around of roles and de-rigging afterwards.

The set-up in YSTV's room was a long row of desks at the back, with sound, graphics, vision mixing, live-stream computing, and directing all happening from there. There was a Teradek, wireless camera roaming around the room as well as the two stationary cameras at the front of the stage and the wide shot: just in front of the control desk. All the roles had people swapping around.
There was a (very) hastily planned live show from the YSTV Studio a few months prior to the event, in which two members of the UniBrass organising committee drew the order of play for bands, names in a hat (or in this case, bucket) style.

It was an incredibly short show, only around 6mins long but went very smoothly from a technical and production perspective. We even had custom live graphics (built hurriedly by Sam Willcocks and Tom Lee in the run up to the event, on LA1:TV's Roses graphics system, allowing display of the order of the bands in real time, as soon as they were announced.

Katherine Bell and Edwin Barnes even went out and shot a very last minute (hour or two before broadcast) title sequence featuring shots of campus leading to the YSTV Studio. The only thing the livestream was missing was credits - these were, as per usual, added in the VOD edit.
| producers = Edwin Barnes
Katherine Bell
Hui-Ling Phillips
}}

Hosted by York, YSTV collaborated with LA1:TV as well as other NaSTA Stations to produce coverage on the annual university sporting competition between York and Lancaster.

Production
Due to Roses being hosted in York, the producers were all from YSTV. Initially this was Katherine Bell as Executive Producer and Edwin Barnes as Production manager. LA1:TV gave them many large empty spreadsheets to fill in for crew amongst spreadsheets for tech allocations, timetables etc.

The crew for Roses kept growing, as connections made at NaSTA 2017 enabled us to enlist the help of crew from Forge TV, LSTV, LSUTV and NaSTA as well. The crew attending was scheduled to be around 90 people over the four days of filming. All of which apparent'y needed roles allocated, crib sheets and call sheets. Therefore voluntarily Hui-Ling Phillips was enlisted as another producer, the role came under many names, the most common being the Director of Better.

This year was incredibly successful with a maximum of 6 simultaneous live streams running.

Tech
This was possibly the most technically ambitious Roses to date, with a peak of 6 concurrent livestreams.

As part of the supporting tech used for Roses, Robert Walker brought with him two 16TB storage units, which went on to form docs:Bruce. Also brought by Rob was a video router, which formed the basis of a TX monitoring station.

The stream was run through our stream server, then forwarded on to LA1:TVs Wowza system. The streams were broadcast on the Roses Live website, as well as being shown on a screen erected on the side of Central Hall - although the screen was pointing into the lake, rather than at the crowd at Greg's Place.

Roses
Samwhttps://wiki.ystv.co.uk/index.php?title=2016-17_in_YSTV&diff=99192016-17 in YSTV2017-07-09T19:06:24Z
Samw: Fix incorrect heading

Membership
YSTV started the academic year in something of a slump. Following a large departure of members at the end of YSTV in 2014-15 and poor member acquisition in YSTV in 2015-16. However, there was a large increase in membership during the 2016-17 Freshers week and by the by elections in October, all committee positions were filled. Naturally, this meant an increase in productions but also many other changes as most of the committee were now brand new members.
Changes
In this year's AGM, the committee voted to end the 24hr broadcasting of YSTV for a multitude of reasons; because tarantula hadn't been working for months and few people knew how to use it. Also, there simply wasn't enough content or viewers to warrant a 24hr live stream anymore. The AGM concluded that the future of broadcasting in general was in on demand content and shareable short videos on social media with livestreams used to stream 'event' television and liveshows. This therefore resulted in the discontinuation of the role of Scheduling Manager

Productions
This year also marked a movement towards making short, share-able videos exclusive to Facebook in tandem with productions for the YSTV website. A notable example is the Baby Birds of Campus video.
YSTV won Best Documentary for the fourth and final episode of Lights on Literature:
::Bombastic opening with some amazing camerawork - time lapses / pans of the coast / shots onboard the boat. Excellent choice of music throughout brought Bram Stokers creation to life. The context behind gothic literature was intelligently conveyed. The script flowed beautifully to match that. There was an absolutely stunning ptc halfway through. The skyline looked fake! It was that good. Clearly some luck with the weather. The way the piece was packaged - in terms of editing and shot choice to illustrate the script was superb. And importantly the level of passion was balanced really well. The enthusiasm was kept in check, it never spelled overboard. An engaging reporter who brought fun and yet thoughtfulness to the piece. The ending was great. Tiny forgivable audio hiccups on the boat. On occasion the music was very loud - perhaps deliberately so because it made me look over my shoulder as if Dracula was behind me.

Other highlights included:
* Not doing our Golden Bodge due to forgetfulness (prompt was 'Silent', 'Biblical Epic', and 'Books make the best weapons!')
* Buying Iona McEwan a new phone - one that does colour and everything!
* Greg Ebdon
* Industry talks
* A Technical Forum with only three attendees

The 2017 NaSTA Conference was hosted by Guild TV and held in Birmingham University from March 31st to April 2nd. YSTV brought 13 members - twice as many as the previous year - of which all but one had never attended NaSTA before, and despite for the first time in 16 years not winning any awards, a fun and at least somewhat inspiring time was had.
The Planning
The process of submitting the NASTA submissions was, as to be expected, very stressful. Many submissions were not submitted until right up to the last hour. Ask Adam Tye for more details. Organising getting a load of YSTV members to the conference turned out, unsurprisingly, to be a logistical nightmare. Sam Willcocks took one look at the ticket prices including hotels, and decided to find Airbnbs for a similar price, proceeded to try to organise people who wanted to go into groups on a mass spreadsheet. (Somewhat inevitably the 'Nasta Party' spreadsheet fell victim to memes and party parrots very quickly) In the end, after some tense moments when committee members left tickets and accommodation to the very last minute, YSTV descended on Birmingham... at different times... and off several different trains.

Day One
On the first day the group split into the two airbnb groups, one to a nice terraced house in Selly-Oak and another group to what can only be described as where you'd set a Brummie Trainspotting tribute. We dropped off luggage then met up again at registration. An uneventful opening ceremony later, it was time for the welcome meal. On discovery that this was a burger van in the car park, the assembled delegates decided that they'd rather buy a load of food and alcohol and all go to the less terrifying (albeit smaller) Airbnb. Here, food was cooked, the house nearly gassed by a slightly malfunctioning oven, drinks consumed and an infamously intimate game of 'Never Have I Ever' took place. This spawned multiple Quotes Board entries, perhaps most pertinently:
"What happens in the airbnb, stays in the airbnb"
Nicely inebriated, the party moved to the first NASTA after party at Birmingham University Guild Hall where YSTV made friends with other stations, Stag TV took a shine to Kate Whittaker (she was asked out via the YSTV Facebook page) and Katherine Bell reportedly drunkenly told anyone who would listen about how old and special YSTV was (she denies she was that drunk).
Day Two and Ceremony
On the second day NASTA provided informative sessions throughout the day on multiple subjects such as CVs, getting into the industry, tech innovations and a thinly veiled sales pitch by MadeTV. These was some chaotic scenes between sessions as there was confusion as to the location of the talks and whether this correlated with the guidebook. In the evening there was a formal meal and awards ceremony hosted by Lizo Mzimba of Newsround fame (the BBC's, not ours). For the first time in 16 years YSTV didn't win any awards, but Kate Whittaker was shortlisted for best on-screen female, as judged by Fiona Bruce.
Day Three and AGM
On the final day, despite only needing station directors in attendance, at least 10 YSTV members arrived to the AGM as there had been hangover packs promised. There were many sensible contributions by YSTV to the motions tabled at the AGM, including voting in new officers to the committee and questioning sweeping reforms to the award categories. There were also less sensible but amusing contributions such as Sam Willcocks' query about any NaSTA fellows (a posthumous appointment) later rising from the grave, and what category they would thus fall under, and Joel Mitchell who had taken to referring to election candidates as "hat boy" and "not hat boy". This silliness was fuelled by many hangovers, lack of sleep and an extensive group chat on slack during the proceedings. There was then a trips to Wetherspoons before trains back to York or members' home towns.
Legacy
The awards ceremony may have been disappointing but many members were inspired by the quality of entries from other stations and planned many more ambitious productions. It was also discussed that YSTV should aim to produce more drama and 'artsy' videos as we focused too heavily on live and this was putting our entries at a disadvantage at NASTA. Connections were also formed with LA1:TV before roses, Stag TV and in particular LSTV who happened to be sat behind Edwin Barnes at the welcome talk, an initial meeting that led to future collaborations such as Roses 2017 and #Ask Look North.
Haunted on the Lawn broadcasted live on 30th October 2014.Produced by Kenric Yuen, an outdoor live show happen right before Halloween that become the first outdoor live show since quite a while.
Production
At first the show was planned as a show similar to 4 a.m. show that in studio, hope to give freshers and other member a chance to to live show with as little pressure as possible as we can 'Blame everything on the Ghost'. However before pitching, there is a lot of discussion make it bigger. Eventually one day Sam Nicholson have an idea that we will have OB outside the pasture next to central Hall. Although not convinced the different campus service will let the show go though, an EMF is still filed.
Baby Birds of Campus was YSTV's most ever successful (at the time of this article) video on Facebook. It was created by Edwin Barnes and Kenric Yuen to show off the capabilities of the newly bought Canon C100 which he had campaigned hard for the society to purchase.

The crew went out with the C100, a tripod and a Canon kit lens borrowed from Kenric Yuen to play with the camera's auto focus. They quickly realised the footage looked fantastic. Edited to music, the many shots of various baby birds on the campus lake looking adorable came together into an instantly shareable video.

As the video wasn't intended as an actual production it was edited into a short video for Facebook and released on the Facebook page within a few days of filming. The video was instantly very successful with multiple 'shares' from students, YUSU and the University of York's official page. All of this engagement on social media as well as comments from students tagging their friends meant that the video reached around 50,000 and received over 16,000 views.
Legacy
The success of this video encouraged further production of short and shareable video to be published on Facebook. Especially as videos on the Facebook reach normally minimum 300 views, average around 1000 and sometimes reach 10,000s whereas the website views hover around 2-3 digits. Traditional length shows and productions are still posted on the website and aim to have shorter trailers or teasers which can be posted on Facebook to get traffic.
Samwhttps://wiki.ystv.co.uk/index.php?title=File:GE2017_LA1_vs_YSTV.jpg&diff=9906File:GE2017 LA1 vs YSTV.jpg2017-06-28T11:50:48Z
Samw: reword

Strong and Stable was the name given to YSTV's overnight coverage of GE2017 with The Lemon Press. It was envisioned as an alternative and comedic take on the elections. As Katherine Bell pointed out: "If people want serious, they'll watch the BBC". The multiple livestreams streamed on both YSTV and Facebook live in 3 increments at 10-12pm, 1-3am and finally a more serious political debate show from 4-6am. It was named after the popular 2017 meme about Theresa May's 'Strong and Stable' leadership and the joke that YSTV streams were rarely strong nor stable.

Pre-Production
There were vague intentions to cover the elections since the current PM Theresa May unexpectedly called the election back in April 2017. However since the election was called for June 8th just after exam season, pre-production was put on the back-burner until anyone could be bothered. Turns out no one really could, so much like the election campaigning itself it was quite a last minute affair. There was a compilation video of YSTV's political content of 2017 created by Raquel Bartra to advertise the stream which was released on YSTV facebook before the show. Purposefully bad graphics were also created by Emily Friend to advertise the stream on social media. An example of the horrific colour scheme and ironic use of comic sans can be seen in the logo recorded here.

The Lemon Press (York's answer to The Private Eye) were invited onto the project to provide VTs, presenters and general anarchy. There was a very productive meeting with our lemony partners where the general outline of the show was discussed. From this meeting it was decided Tom Lee would help The Lemon Press film VTs with our green screen in the studio. Spoiler alert: Most of these ended up being unbroadcastable. One of the skits about the Queen was bordering on treason so there was some trepidation for the actual live show.

Edwin Barnes booked YourSpace for the night, intending to set up the OB hours before we went live.

The Day of Livestream
The day of the election stream was at the end of the infamous week of hell from 2-9th June where there was a production every single day. Therefore, everyone was a bit fed up and there wasn't much going on until around 6pm on the night. Since we were supposed to go live at 10pm it was decided there wasn't enough time to set up an OB in YourSpace and the studios would have to do. There was then a rush against time to build a decent-ish set with two a red sofa, an armchair, setboard, photos of politicians, a precariously hung glowing "On Air" sign with "Just About" written above as well as multiple balloons. Hui-Ling Phillips, Katherine Bell and Raquel Bartra went to Aldi to procure catering as there was a huge crew arriving.

The Show
The show was a mixture or farce and serious politics there were games such as
* Political Twister (party seats matched the colour spots)
* If I were PM... (an improv exercise for our presenters where they played PM and Interviewer)
* Feed the Crisps to Theresa May (as it sounds)
* Tracey or Trump? (where the presenters had to guess whether the quotes onscreen were from Donald Trump or Tracey Beaker)

There were many running gags in the comedy shows from 10-12pm and 1-3am presented by Andy Tallon and Josh Chapman. These included:
* A loud MLG horn patched through to the studio whenever there was a seat won (to the constant surprise and annoyance of the presenters). The Director on shift would then give the details of the seat won over comms to be reported while the LED lights would change the colour of the set boards to the wining party's colour.
* The presenters getting progressively more intoxicated and bewildered by the antics of The Lemon Press
* A bin which had been labelled 'Jeremy Cor-bin'
* A shoddy green screen constructed in the break between the streams onto which twitter memes and graphics were chroma keyed
* A terrifying clown mask and other props and costumes found in YSTV's bottomless props draws
* Directors trying to trick the not so politically informed presenters into announce fake results such as "Hugh Janus" having won a swing seat for Labour

The show from 4-6am was produced by Joel Mitchell and invited political commentators from many student political parties and publications to comment on the results and predict the nature of the hung parliament which was beginning to become inevitable. This show has a more reserved set up with 5 stools set up around a screen where two presenters and 3 guests (around 10 guests swapped throughout the two hours) discussed the night. This show utilised VT footage from YSTV's previous coverage of the election period including our coverage of the Corbyn rally and an exclusive interview with Boris Johnson. Joel Mitchell and Benjamin Whybrow held the show together by producing, presenting and researching on iPads live on air as comms were temperamental at best.

Awards
The Strong and Stable livestream was shortlisted for and won a 2017 YUMA for best entertainment to the surprise of everyone involved. Especially as YSTV had also been nominated in the same category for Behind The Streams

The 2017 NaSTA Conference was hosted by Guild TV and held in Birmingham University from March 31st to April 2nd. YSTV brought its largest contingent in several years - 13 members - and despite for the first time in 16 years not winning any awards, the weekend was inspiring and certainly eventful.

The York University Media Awards, or YUMAs, is the campus media's annual booze filled backslap-athon, first held in 2001. Nouse, URY, Vision, Cinematography Society and YSTV traditionally took it turns to arrange an awards evening, in which each society gave out their own awards rather than compete against other societies. In YSTV's case, this involved voting on old favourites, such as Best Show, Best Female and the like. Unlike other societies, YSTV members all have a vote on their categories (and indeed the categories chosen), rather than winners being chosen by a select group. In this respect the ceremony is a light-hearted way to end the year often including joke categories, unlike NaSTA.

In recent years the YUMAs seem to have turned into more traditional awards, with categories being pre-selected and nominations submitted by societies, with the judging by a group of YUSU staff and students.

2001
The first YUMAs, held at Merchant Adventurer's Hall.

*Outstanding Production - SU Elections 2001 (beating Lazy Lunch and YSTV-am).
*Best Contribution to News and Current Affairs - Thea Darricotte (beating Kerry Beadling).
*Outstanding Achievement - Matt Hammond and Kevin Bowman for Election Night graphics system (beating Polarvision and Jenny Gordon).
*Best Newcomer - Adam Dymond (beating Chris Thornton).
*Lifetime Achievement - Matt Hammond (beating Peter Bowles and Michael Prior-Jones).
*YSTV also won in the inter-society catergory of "Most Glamorous Girls", with Nouse winning Tidiest Office, URY winning Best Quotes, Cinematography Society winning Best Blagging and Vision inevitably winning Most Controversial.

2002
Held at Merchant Adventurer's Hall. Photos can be seen on URY's website.

*Best On-Screen Personality - Adam Dymond (beating Michael Prior-Jones, Rupert Clifford and Nick Oldham).
*Best Newcomer - Rob Humphrey (beating Giles Burdett).
*Devotion to YSTV - Kevin Bowman (beating Jenny Gordon and Michael Prior-Jones).
*Lifetime Achievement - Jenny Gordon (beating Thea Darricotte and Maurice the effects unit).

2003
Held at The Hilton near Clifford's Tower. After initial discussion in meetings YSTV pulled out after it was realised most of the active members would be immersed in final year exams and practical work the day after the ceremony, and the few who could attend would most probably be ridiculed for the minimal turnout and having to pick up most awards on behalf of others. Jonathan Bufton did however attend after being nominated for his URY show.

2004
Held at Next Generation Gym, with guest speaker former student and Daily Mail journalist Peter Hitchens. Photos are on YSTV's website.

*Best Technical Innovation - YSTV Week graphics (beating Edit PC, Election Night graphics, Green Screen and tally lights).
*Best Presenter - Pete Nichols.
*Best Programme - Elections 2004.
*Best New Programme - Solipsism.
*Overall Contribution - Jonathan Bufton.
*Media Personality Of The Year - James Gallagher for his work at URY,YSTV and Nouse.

2005
Held again at Next Generation Gym. Has a page over at URY but as you'd expect is mainly centred around their people.

In this respect the cermeony is a light-hearted way to end the year often including joke categories, unlike NaSTA.

Point and Shoot is an Action/Comedy short film about a shadowy bounty hunter society on campus. Members can receive contracts on each other, with successful eliminations granting the victor a guaranteed 2:1 or higher in their degree. The society is presented within the film as being without real, physical weaponry and so the film adopts a 'prop-less' aesthetic to match. It pays homages to a number of different movies, from Sergio Leone's The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to Edgar Wright's Hot Fuzz (itself, a send-up of action films). It is the only fictional piece of YSTV programming to go into production during the 2016/17 student year.

Story
A ruthless assassin has a price placed on her head and is forced to fend for her life.

Cast
Main Characters
*Roxanne Spence as The Assassin
*Carrie Morrison as the First Bounty Hunter
*Lucy Maines as the Second Bounty Hunter
*Logan Hawley as the first one that Roxanne's characters kills I haven't come up with the names yet give me time kthanxbye

Extras
*Gareth as Guy who barely puts up a fight
*Morgan as Woman who needs to take cover better
*Kenric Yuen as Badass archer who unfortunately is only in the film for a few seconds
*Dan Maher as Crossbow guy (also known as The Cheater)

Locations
Filming took place over three days, covering roughly four scenes in total. The geography and relation of scenes to one another was not designed to make sense, out of convenience so the crew could choose the best location on the day of filming. Adam appreciates that this may intensely irritate University of York students and alumni.

Scene 1 - The First Fight
*Filmed in one of the top floors of the Spring Lane building.
*The final shot of Roxanne walking out through the rotating doors was shot at the back of the building. Adam foolishly thought this would take only a couple of hours to film - in actuality, it took roughly five.
*This was the second scene to be shot in total and was filmed on the second day of production.

Scene 2 - The Text Message
*Set just outside the Costa near James Porters and YUSU.
*Fun fact: whilst carrying a table, Adam spilt water all over his crotch in a most unfortunate manner. Unfortunately it was not a sunny day and so took some time to dry out.
*This was the third scene to be shot and was filmed on the third day of production.

Scene 3 - The Second Fight
*Shot just outside that hall where they have the poster sale next to the Costa, overlooking the lake.
*This was the first scene to be shot and was filmed on the first day of production.

Scene 4 - The Mexican Standoff/The Duo
*Filming for this took place on Walmgate Stray.
*This was the final scene to be shot and was filmed on the third day of production.

Movie References
The short film contains references to various other action and western films.
*The premise of the film bears similarities to the criminal underworld of John Wick, in that it portrays a kind of assassin/bounty hunter society. This even applies to the texts the characters receive informing them of a new target or 'Contract'.
* At the end of Scene 2, the camera move towards Lucy's character as she looks over at Carrie's character is similar to a 'push in' on John Watson during a scene in Guy Ritchie's 2009 Sherlock Holmes movie.
*The Mexican Standoff during the last scene of the film is a homage to Sergio Leone's The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.

Roxanne's Essay
During the first scene, Roxanne's character can be seen typing what is presumably an essay onto a laptop. The essay has been included below, for posterity's sake:

"There’s a stranger in my bed
There’s a pounding in my head
Theres flamingos in the pool
Is this a hickey or a bruise
I smell like a mini bar
Teachers passed out in the yard
It’s a blacked out blurr but I’m pretty sure it ruled
Oh yeah
Last Friday night
Think I took to many shots then we danced on table tops last Friday night

From the day we arrived on the planet
And blinking steped into the sun
There is more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There’s far to much to take in here more to find than can ever be found
With the sun rolling high
In the sapphire sky
Each great and small
On the endless round
It’s the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despaire and hope
Through faith and love
Til we find our place
On the path unwinding
It’s the circle
The circle of life

The minute you walked in the joint
I could see you were a man of distinction
A real big spender
Good looking
So refined
Say wouldn’t you like to know whats going on in my mind
So let me get right to the point
I don’t pop my cork for every guy I see
Hey big spender
Spend a little time with me

Summer. Europe. A view over the city. These are the basic ingredients. And a river running through it. Yes a river, running through the city, with a couple at the waters edge, these are the basic ingredients. The woman? Young and beautiful, naturally. The man? Older, sensitive naturally. Yes a naturally sensitive man, with a taste for power, who knows this is wrong. They both know this is wrong / Exactly
/They’re making love in the mans apartment
They’re what?
Making love. Making love in the mans apartment. A luxury apartment naturally, with a view over the entire city, these are the basic ingredients.
The woman cries out, her golden hair cascading over the bed, her eyes widen, her knuckles tighten, there are tears in her eyes.
THE APPARTMENT IS BEAUTIFULY FURNISHED
What?
Of course the apartment is beautifully furnished. Obviously it would have high ceilings and oak walls. And the tall windows would have views over Notre Dame, the great ____ and _______ to name but a few. ….. (This wasn’t my monologue so I paraphrased and can’t remember the rest.)
… And the man/
lets say he grunts?
What?
Lets say he grunts yes, but not the course grunt of a mechanic. Rather the sophisticated grunt of a man of power and influence… (Not my monologue again, sorry)
Absolutely not.
(This part is me) Absolutly not, but the grunt of a man who breakfasts on one continent and lunches on another. Who flies first class with linen napkins and a comprehensive wine list. These are the basic ingredients
That kind of grunt
That kind of man
That kind of light
What kind of light?
The kind of light that streams in through the window, that catches her hair as it cascades (Nope, not mine again but the gist is about how beautiful the light is)

People may be wondering why I am writing the lyrics to Katy Perry’s ‘Last Friday Night,’ The Lion Kings opening song, Sweet Charities ‘Hey Big Spender’, and part of the second scenario of Martin Crimps ‘Attempts on her Lives,’ (A script I highly recommend a read, very interesting concepts and ideas on plot/structure). Well, I shall tell you, dear reader, it is because I am an assassin. Not a real one, mind you, just an actor in a film assassin, if I was a real assassin I’d have paid of my student loan months ago. See, Adam Tye has made a really fun film and given me the opportunity to act in it, and so far I’m finding it very fun. For the past maybe 30mins, I’ve been asked. Ive now been asked to write a five thousand word essay by Adam on “The Lion King bloopers” so I shall attempt this now.

The Lion King Bloopers, and essay in comparison to Disney’s animated bloopers and Pixar’s animated bloopers

Disney is arguably the most famous of the two animated studios, although Pixar may have the superior technique when it comes to the animation quality. Pixar first challenged hand drawn animation with CGI in 1995, although Disney has continued reserved the tradition of the hand drawn animation for their most well know characters and stories (E.G: Winnie the Pooh, 2011). Since 1995, both companies have competed to have the highest gross (Pixar, Toy Story 3 $1,063.2million. Disney, The Force Awakens $936,662,225). However, for years both companies have competed not just financially, but also via the amount of entertainment they provided.

Bloopers are one of the most important aspects of behind the scenes in any film production, they allow the audience to see a humanized version of figures the public look up to, linking the majority to modern Star Culture. Since then, Easter Eggs in films are a the equivalent of an in-joke than many live action films incorporate, the animated bloopers an attempt to make the animation appeared more humanized to the target audience

Disney, famously incorporate bloopers into their films. The 1994 film, The Lion King, incorporated one such scene with Nathan Lane. In the film, Simba, Timon and Pumbaa are trying to establish a plan to distract the Cheetahs on Pride Rock. Lane famously adlibbed the line “what do you want me to do? Dress in drag and do a hula?” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWk0O8tLtPE) This added to the hilarity of what would otherwise be a serious scene. Because of this internal blooper, the animators had to edit storyboards and create an animated scene based around an in-joke. The 1992 film Aladdin similarly has Robin Williams adlibbing for the majority of the film, causing animators (ESSAY INTERRUPTED DUE TO FILMING PRIORITIES)

Note to the reader pt 2
We have killed the actors Logan and Gareth. Please take a moment of silence for our fallen comrades.
We’ve just had lunch, starting action at 13:13 (sounds ominous doesn’t it?). Dan has shot me with a cross bow four times now, and me and Adam have done a very snazzy YSTV logo on the board. We’re professionals ☺ The windows here in spring Lane keep opening and closing with no control, there may be an apocalypse coming, dear reader…….. but because of this it means filming is interrupted an awful lot."
Samwhttps://wiki.ystv.co.uk/index.php?title=User_talk:Adfw&diff=9878User talk:Adfw2017-06-24T10:58:05Z
Samw: Welcome!
